Mild temperatures encouraged hundreds of families to turn out for last weeks Electric Light Parade which began at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center and ended up before a panel of judges in the Kenai Chamber of Commerce's parking lot. There were 17 participants in this year's parade which seems to get larger and more creative each year. From Nutcracker Ballet dancers to flying Hogs and marching Young Marines the annual parade was a D-light to see.
Winning the Grand Prize overall for 2004 was the entry created by Carlile Transportation Systems and Home Depot featuring Frosty the Snowman driving a sleigh pulled by flying antlered John Deer tractors. Taking first place in the commercial category was the float by Lynden Transport and Fred Meyer, and in second place commercial were KSRM's flying hams for the holidays. Winner of the Youth category was Vergine's Dance Studio with her dancing Nutcrackers, and in second were the marching Young Marines. First place Organization was won by SOAR International Ministries for their stocking stuffer float, and American Legion Post 20 took second.
Winners are to be honored at Wednesday's noon meeting of the Kenai Chamber of Commerce at the Paradisos Restaurant in Kenai.
