Hungry? Carol Strickland said the Boy Scout Troop will be at the Kenai Safeway store selling popcorn Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until they sell out. This fund-raiser helps send boys to summer camp and it helps fund their activities.

The Rev. Laura Skiba mentions the Noel Tree is a M&M Market in the Nikiski Plaza. This supports the need of the children in our community at Christmas.

The tree has cards with information of what the child's needs are, and all one has to do is purchase the items and return to the store with the information card. For more information call 776-8732.

Bob Harrison said all cribbage players and watchers should meet Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Kenai Merit Inn.

Jody Pritchard, Nikiski Senior Citizens Center care coordinator, wants senior residents to know the center provides many services for them, including care coordination, chore and homemaker services, outreach, in-home services, visitation, information and referral, loan closet, collaborative services and assistance with paperwork.

If you have needs or are not sure where to obtain any assistance, stop by the center and see Jody or call her at 776-7568.

The Kenai Peninsula Reading Council is looking for Nikiski groups interested in assisting with their third annual Peninsula Reading Carnival on Jan. 29. Welcome, Elena Diaz, who joined the Nikiski Middle-Senior High School in the maintenance department.

I would like to thank the ladies at the Valley City, N.D., library the use of the computer to do the Nikiski column while visiting my daughter, Becky, son-in-law, Lonnie and grandson, Gavin. I will be back in Alaska for next week's column.
