SOLDOTNA (AP) -- A Soldotna man died after a head-on crash Thursday night about five miles north of here, Alaska State Troopers report. Another Soldotna man was critically injured.

Hassien Sliman, 44, died of his injuries at Central Peninsula General Hospital, troopers reported. Walter Williams, 43, was in the intensive care unit at an Anchorage hospital Friday.

Sliman was northbound on the Sterling Highway about 9 p.m. Thursday when his 1978 Ford Bronco crossed the center line and smashed into the 1997 Dodge van being driven by Williams.

The highway link was closed for about an hour and a half after the collision.

Sliman's driver's license had been revoked, troopers said.
