Nominations for light displays sought
The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will accept nominations for its annual Christmas decoration competition through Tuesday. First- through third-place prizes will be given in both commercial and residential categories. Homer Electric Association will provide the following prizes; $100 energy credit, first place, commercial; $50 energy credit, for second and third place, commercial; $50 energy credit, first place, residential; $25 energy credit, second and third place, residential.

Homer chamber schedules luncheon
The Homer Chamber of Commerce will hold a holiday luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Homer Elks Lodge. The luncheon will spotlight the Alaska Islands and Ocean Visitors Center. The guest speakers will be Glenn Seaman of the Kachemak Bay Research Reserve, Ann Morkill of Alaska Maritime Wildlife Refuge and Lori Stephens of the Alaska Islands and Ocean Visitors Center. The Homer High School Swing Choir also will perform.
Lunch is provided by Share the Spirit. Cost is $10 at the door. Proceeds will go to Share the Spirit and the chamber scholarship fund. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call (907) 235-7740.
Account for fire victims set up
An account has been set up at the Wells Fargo Bank for the Goracke family, which recently lost its home and belongings in a fire. The Gorackes have been active in the community, donating countless hours to youth programs, especially wrestling and football. Interested community members can make a donation at any Wells Fargo Branch to the Goracke fire fund account.
Firefighters plan basketball fund-raiser
The Kenai Firefighters Association will play in a basketball game against a team of NFL and Hollywood celebrities at 7 p.m. Friday at the Kenai Central High School gymnasium. The tentative roster includes, Cliff Branch of the Oakland Raiders, Kerry Justin of the Seattle Seahawks, Ron Egloff of the Denver Broncos and Gloria Kisel of "Intolerable Cruelty," "Die Another Day" and "Moulin Rouge." The game is a fund-raiser for the association. Tickets are $12.50 for one adult or two children. The public is encouraged to attend. For more information or tickets, call Terry Bookey at 283-7666.
Native Christmas bazaar planned

Food bank to serve Christmas dinner
