Soldotna Elementary

Students have been participating in the "Great Soldotna Elementary Walking program" during recesses and the top walkers for this quarter are Sean Endsley, Brayden Holt, Shay Poole, John Wynkoop, Nathan Byerly and Austin Murray. Congratulations to all walkers. Three hundred and seventy miles were completed by intermediate students this quarter.

Megan Herrick's name was picked for the box top winner for last week.

Hannah Hawkins, Kyle Marcuson, Brendon Hanson, Michael Alvey, Dylan Simons, Kyra Price, Joey Steffy, Becky Shaffer, Jared Briggs, Hannah Pothast, Teairah Bunch, Lily Zufelt, Taran Edmondson, Nicole Heitzman, Dalton Lohrke, Xylonah Stott, Willa Huddleston, Jake Holle, Matt Deatherage, Tayln Bettencourt, Savannah Dillon,Camy Cockroft and Shawna Ashmore received a book of their choice for doing good deeds.

Friday at noon, the fifth-grade band will perform and Fun Fest will take place after school. For Fun Fest, teachers have planned holiday craft activities for students and the proceeds will go towards funding Stephanie Cox teaching batik classes to students.

As part of her social studies and science units, Ms. Courtright took her students to Anchorage on Friday to visit the earthquake exhibit and focus on geology and rocks at the Imaginarium. Fourth-grade curriculum addresses the Earth's layers, volcanoes, earthquakes and the geological systems of Alaska.
