It was a pleasure to have Rep. Eric Croft spend the day in the Kenai, Sterling and Soldotna area Nov. 9. He visited several groups of people, including the seniors in Sterling and the monthly peninsula Democrat meeting.
It was enlightening to hear some of his explanations on the budget process and his ideas as he begins a run for the governor of Alaska. It seems there are several announced candidates so far for governor and it will be interesting as we start this process.
We have seen in our local election a good choice of people to vote for, but everyone is getting tired of business as usual, and I was glad to see Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor John Williams elected.
We are lucky with the high price of oil bailing us out of the budget crunch, but is a jet the way to spend the money? What about he longevity bonus that many of our seniors depend on that was taken by this administration? What about an all-Alaska gas line we all voted for? We need to get Alaska gas where we, as Alaskans, can benefit.
Again, thank you to Rep. Croft for his time to come and hear our concerns and share his views with us.
