Concert to herald in holidays

The Central Peninsula Youth and Community Orchestra will hold a holiday concert at 3 p.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. There is no fee.

KWF hosts open house

The Kenai Watershed Forum will host a holiday open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at its office at 44539 Sterling highway, Suite 202. For more information, call 260-5449.

Women voters to gather

The Central Peninsula League of Women Voters will hold its Christmas potluck and meeting Tuesday at the home of Robin Ross. For information, meeting times and directions, call 260-8077.

Victorian tea, luncheon set

The Peninsula Take-a-Break will host a Victorian tea and luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Solid Rock Bible Conference Center at Mile 90.5 Sterling Highway. The afternoon will include music by Renee Rysdyk, last-minute gift ideas by Debbie Griffin and featured speaker, nurse Pam Howard. The cost is $8. Child care is provided. Senior center to host St. Nick

The Nikiski Senior Center will host Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus from 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 16. at the center on Island Lake Road. They will be available for visitation and photographs. Cookies and cocoa will be served. Door prizes also will be available.

Competition lights up city

The Soldotna Chamber has begun its annual Christmas lighting contest. To be considered for an award, nominations are due into the chamber office by 5 p.m. Dec. 16. Winners will be announced Jan. 3 at the chamber luncheon.

First- thorough third-place energy credit awards will be given in commercial and residential categories. For more information, call Robyn at 262-9814.

Storytellers set to entertain

The Kenai Community Library and the Kenai Performers will present holiday stories from around the world at 1 p.m. Dec. 18 at the library. There is no fee.

Christmas dinner slated

The Sterling Senior Citizens Center will host a prime rib Christmas dinner Dec. 20 at the center. Peppermint cheesecake will be served for dessert.

A choir will sing and a hula presentation also will be given. The cost is $8. Reservations are required. For more information and time of dinner, call 262-6808.

Fundraiser gala to get toes tapping

The Soroptimist International of the Kenai Peninsula will host its Soroptimist Gala at 7:30 p.m. Jan 7 at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska. The evening will include live music, hor d’oeuvres and ho-host bar. The dress is semi-formal. The cost is $65 per person. Proceeds will benefit peninsula women and the Young Women’s Conference.
