Chris Saddoris, a junior left-handed pitcher from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, has recently signed with the Oilers for 2006. Saddoris transferred to UNLV from Irvine Valley College, where he was named first-team all-conference and an all-American. In 2004, Saddoris was the team’s closer and in 2005 he sported a 1.79 ERA with 84 strikeouts in just over 105 innings pitched. Saddoris is from Mission Viejo, Calif., and is undecided on a college major.
University of Nevada, Reno catcher Jordan Opdyke also is headed to Kenai for the summer of 2006. Opdyke is a freshman. After the 2004 and the 2005 seasons the native of Calimesa, Calif., was named to the high school all-league and all-county teams. Opdyke also was named to the 2005 Connie Mack World Series all-tournament team after helping lead his team to the finals. Opdyke is studying criminal justice.
