ANCHORAGE (AP) -- More of Denali National Park and Preserve is now open for snowmobile use.
Park Superintendent Stephen Martin said Friday the south side of the Alaska Range within the 1980 additions to the park now have enough snow to be opened for traditional activities.
The north side of the range is still limited to existing trail corridors and frozen rivers, Martin said, because of insufficient snow.
The western portion of the Stampede Trail corridor is open from the Sushana River west of Healy to Kantishna.
Lands within the former Mt. McKinley National Park on both the north and sound sides of the Alaska Range remain closed to all snowmobile use by federal regulation.
