The school is conducting a food drive for The Salvation Army through Friday. Families may send nonperishable food items to school with their children or drop off their donations at their convenience.
The annual geography bee was held last Friday for students in grades four through six. Each class conducted its own bee to determine the participants for the school competition. The event was coordinated by Gail Knobf. Classroom finalists were Wes Mathews and Ian Buffington from Mr. Records' room; Ben Ransom and Ryan McMaster from Mrs. Knobf's room; Jason Johnson and RyAnne Rodland from Mr. Cowans' room; and Elizabeth Schoessler and Dustin Olson from Mr. Michael's room. The school winners are Wes Matthews, first place; Jason Johnson, second place; and Ben Ransom, third place. Wes must now qualify for the state geography bee to be conducted in April.
Mrs. Knobf, Mrs. Worsfold and Mrs. Myrick have begun Battle of the Books practices for students in grades three through six. Students who wish to compete for a place on the district competition team can earn points based on their number of correct answers during each practice session. Team will be determined in late January. District competition begins Feb. 11.
