Ninilchik loses at state

The Ninilchik volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Hoonah Thursday at the Class 1-2-3A-West state volleyball tournament at Dimond High School in Anchorage.

Ninilchik coach Mary Clock said Angela Singh and Mindy Dawson are the two players who had state experience heading into the match.

"I don't think they were as intimidated as our younger girls," Clock said. "The younger girls had a harder time putting it together.

"We're looking forward to tomorrow."

Singh was named the player of the match for Ninilchik.

The Wolverines will face Susitna Valley today at 3:45 p.m. in the fourth-place semifinals.

Ninilchik lost to the Rams twice at the conference tournament last weekend, but both matches were close.

"We're going into it like, 'Now, it's our turn,'" Clock said.
