Rick Ross stepping down as Kenai city manager

KENAI (AP) -- Rick Ross plans to step down as Kenai city manager, saying it's time for a change after nearly 30 years of public service.

Ross didn't express any dissatisfaction with the job in announcing his intentions to leave. But after retiring as Kenai's chief of police in 1993 after 22 years, and spending nearly five years as city manager, Ross said it simply was time to move on.

''Change is good. There's nothing wrong with change,'' the 54-year-old Ross said. ''It's time for me to make a change, and this is a good council to select a good city manager.''
