Dimond received a hat trick from Merit Waldrop Saturday night in defeating Soldotna 9-0 in nonconference action at the Soldotna Sports Center.
The Lynx, who also received a goal and two assists from Nate Thompson and Justin Childers, used the big ice at the sports center to their advantage and outshot the Stars 35-13. Soldotna's lone two losses this season are to Dimond.
"They have the most speed in the state," Soldotna coach Pat Nolden said after his team dropped to 7-2. "I can't imagine any team being faster than them. They had a lot of open ice and moved the puck well.
"If they're not the best, I shudder to see who might be."
Rusty Ben picked up the shutout for Dimond, while Kenny Bishop tended net for Soldotna.
The Stars were missing their No. 1 goaltender, a top defenseman and a top forward, but Nolden said Dimond still would have rolled past his team even if those players had been present.
"They outplayed us in every phase of the game," Nolden said.
On the bright side, Nolden expects those three key players back in time for this weekend's road trip to the Matanuska-Susitna valleys. Soldotna will play Palmer Thursday, Colony Friday and Wasilla Saturday.
"It's a big weekend," Nolden said. "It will decide who's No. 1 in the conference before Christmas."
