Alaska resident Barbara Marie Osborn died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, in a motor-vehicle accident. She was 31.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Virginia.
Ms. Osborn was born Nov. 27, 1973, in Fairfax, Va. She came to Alaska in October 2002. She was a member of the Army and Navy Reserves. She worked for the Alaska Department of Corrections from October 2002 until her death.
She attended Kenai Christian Church. She served with the Navy Reserves during the Hurricane Katrina aftermath in New Orleans and other cities in Missouri.
“Barbara left many relatives and friends who loved her deeply and will live on in their memories. She loved hunting and fishing,” her family said.
Ms. Osborn is survived by children, Keith Osborn, Coral Osborn and Alexander Bishop; parents, Charlie and L. Carolyn Osborn of Woodford, Va.; brothers, Dain Osborn of Early, Texas, and Kevin Osborn of Spotsylvania, Va.; sister, Karen Mountjoy of Bowling Green, Va.; grandmother, Vira Whitlock of Piney Flats, Tenn.; great-grandmother, Beulah Walker of Knoxville, Iowa; ex-husband, Andrew Bishop of Anchorage; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be sent to P.O. Box 657, Ladysmith, VA 22501.
Arrangements were made by Anchorage Funeral Home and Crematory.
