Former Soldotna resident Ben O. Keenan passed away Monday Dec. 6, 2010, in Sun City Center, Fla., following a brief illness. He was 81.
Mr. Keenan was a native of Lithia, Fla. He had spent his summers in Alaska and his winters in Florida for the past 13 years.
Mr. Keenan was born Nov. 19, 1929, to Benjamin Obe Keenan and Olive Johnson in Lithia. He married Oma H. Keenan June 12, 1976.
His family said Ben's passions were his loving wife, Oma, his family and friends, fishing, mushroom hunting, wood carving, painting, traveling and teaching. "He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed by all," the family said.
Mr. Keenan is survived by his wife, sons Greg Keenan and Dan (Susan) Keenan; daughters Sandi (Fritz) Schlichting, and Kathy (Cal) Reimann; sister Aileen Pulgrano; ex-wife Betty Keenan; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
