PALMER (AP) -- Two juveniles who were brought to the Palmer Courthouse escaped after attacking a counselor in the parking lot, Alaska State Troopers said Tuesday.
The two boys were in handcuffs and leg chains and were about to be transported from the courthouse to the Mat-Su Youth Facility when they escaped Monday, troopers said. The two managed to get keys from the counselor and removed their handcuffs and leg chains. The boys, a 13 year old and a 14 year old, had been brought to the courthouse on felony burglary charges.
Palmer police tracked the two across a field and into a neighborhood before losing them. The counselor was treated for scratches and bruises at a local hospital and released.
