Croft’s plan is no ‘deal’

Posted: Tuesday, December 13, 2005

Eric Croft’s position on the Alaska gas pipeline is far greater risk to Alaska than the supposed issues outlined in your Nov. 23 (Clarion) article entitled “Croft seeks fair pipeline deal for state.”

The best deal for Alaska is the pipeline that moves the largest volume of gas to the biggest market for the lowest cost. The “all-Alaska” project does not do that — the producers project does.

Croft’s use of the Alaska gas pipeline project to advance his own political agenda is irresponsible and potentially far more damaging to Alaskans than the deal being negotiated by the governor.
