A raging fire consumed an entire Kenai house early Sunday morning.
By the time the Kenai Fire Department reached the house, the roof already had caved in, said Assistant Fire Chief James Baisden.
“Basically we had fire on every part of the home,” he said. “It was a fully involved structure fire.”
The house was unoccupied, and the fire was not reported until a motorist passing by called 911 dispatch about 6:30 a.m., he said.
According to the Kenai Peninsula Borough assessor’s office, the one-family house at 2825 Bowpicker Lane was owned by Tomas and Sharalyn Wright and valued at $150,500.
The house was not located near a fire hydrant, and the fire department responded with one fire engine and one tanker to haul water to the scene. Central Emergency Services and the Nikiski Fire Department also brought water, each sending a tanker.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
