CES now collection point for food bank

Central Emergency Services will provide collection sites at its three stations for holiday food donations for the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week through December. Food items can be dropped off at the following Mile 84 of the Sterling Highway, Mile 13.5 of Kalifornsky Beach Road or the Soldotna fire station on North Binkley. Kenai decorating contest judged Monday

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce will judge homes and businesses for their holiday decorating contest Monday evening. Anyone wishing to be considered for a prize should have their lights on and decorations out Monday. For more information, call the chamber at 283-7989.

Booster club to meet, have potluck

The Skyview High School Basketball Booster Club will have a "meet and greet" the coaches potluck meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the school commons. For more information, call Dennis Smith at 262-7974.

T-200 poster contest deadline nears

The annual Tustumena 200 Sled Dog Race poster design contest has begun. The winner of the contest will be invited to ride in the ceremonial start of the race, and the wining picture will be reproduced on the poster for the 2004 Tustumena 200. The deadline for entries is Monday.

Entrants must be in grades one through six. One entry per student is allowed, and pictures must be original, with no computers, copies or tracing used. Crayon, ink, markers or colored pencils are allowed. Pictures should show friendly competition, humane care of sled dogs or musher-dog team involvement in the T-200.

All entries must be on 8 1/2- by 11-inch paper. Artist name, address, city, phone, teacher name, school and grade should be on the back written in pencil. Entrants are asked to not fold entries.

Public hearing set on 911 system

The House Special Committee on Economic Development, International Trade and Tourism will hold a public meeting on the 911 system at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Kenai Legislative Information Office at 145 Main Street Loop. Testimony is by invitation only. For more information, call 283-2030.

Free holiday concert planned

The Greatlanders, the U.S. Air Force Band of the Pacific, will hold a free holiday concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Renee C. Henderson Auditorium at Kenai Central High School. The concert is sponsored in part by the Soldotna and Kenai chambers of commerce.

Women voters plan potluck

The League of Women Voters will hold a short meeting and potluck at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. The public is invited. For more information and directions, call 262-3908.

School district Ed-Line workshop slated

The Kenai Alternative High School will host an in-service workshop on the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District's Ed-Line at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday at the school. For more information, call 283-7844.

Kennel club offering dog classes

The Kenai Kennel Club is offering classes at its facility in the former Inlet Card and Craft store in the C Plaza in Kenai. Classes include beginning agility, puppy kindergarten, basic, intermediate and advance obedience, rally obedience and conformation handling.
