Caregiver training set

The National Family Caregiver Support Program will hold a aphasia (loss of hearing) training workshop at 3 p.m. Friday at the Independent Care Advantage Center in Soldotna. For more information, call 262-1280.

'Toy and Joy' application deadline Friday

The deadline for applications for The Salvation Army's "Toy and Joy" Christmas sign-up is Friday. Applications are available at its family service office at 11824 Kenai Spur Highway. The office hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

For a list of information that is needed in the application process, call 283-4035 or stop by the office.

Senior citizens to host Santa

The Nikiski Senior Citizens Center will host Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday. Refreshments will be available. Parents can have their child's photo taken with Santa. There also will be door prizes.

Library sets holiday schedule

The Soldotna Public Library will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. It will be closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday on Christmas and New Year's weekends. For more information, call 262-4227.

Boys and Girls Club to host Santa

The Boys and Girls Club will host Santa from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Kenai Merit Inn. Santa will arrive via the Kenai Fire Department and be available to have his picture taken with area children. The cost of pictures is $5 per child and $2 for each additional child in the same setting.

Cookies, gifts and caroling are some of the planned events. Raffle tickets for a giant stocking also will be available for $1 each. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call 283-2682.

Senior service board meeting set

The Nikiski Senior Service Area will hold its board of directors meeting at 5 p.m. Jan. 5 at the Nikiski Senior Citizens Center. For more information, call Leigh at 776-7654.
