Berry growers to meet
The Alaska Berry Growers will meet at 4 p.m. today at Cook Inlet Aquaculture Building on Kalifornsky Beach Road. The topics will be cultivation of wild Alaska blueberries as well as other berry species. For more information, call 394-2590.
Skating recital glides finish
The Soldotna Sports Center will present its eighth annual Learn to Skate Christmas recital at 5;30 p.m. Friday. Admission fee is one can of food, that will be donated to the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. Performances will be by local skaters. For more information, call Madalyn McEwen at 262-3151.
Holiday concert set to entertain
A holiday concert will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. It will consist of a variety of music featuring the Redoubt Chamber Orchestra as well as other groups and soloists. The cost of admission is $10 per person, children 12 and under are admitted free. Tickets are available at the door. Proceeds will benefit the Kenai Peninsula Orchestra scholarship fund.

Fundraisers for cancer victim begin
The following fundraisers are being held for Ericka Reynolds, a sixth-grader at Kenai Middle School who was diagnosed with leukemia;
· Saturday Dinner and live auction at 7 p.m. at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska. Volunteers and donations are being sought. For more information, call 283-3001, 252-1328 or 398-0294.
· Saturday The Triumvirate Theatre and Bookstore will hold a book sale from noon to 6 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna. Community members may pay any price they want for any single book in the store. Proceeds from Saturday’s sales will be donated to the family to help with medical expenses.

Middle school basketball offered
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula is taking registrations for seventh and eighth grade basketball. Deadline to register is Dec. 29. Program fee is $60 before Dec. 29 or $70 after Dec. 29. All participants must be a 2007 member. Registrations are being taken from 10 a.m. o 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Kenai office. Registrations with credit card information should call 283-2682.
