The preschoolers have been making Christmas gifts and cards for their families and also decorating trees. The Dena'ina word for spruce tree is Ch'wala.

Miss Corey will come in and read stories this week.

The staff will take Dena'ina language classes at the center in January.

The Christmas cookie bake for parents will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in the Family House.

The classrooms will have holiday activities and crafts from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Friday.

Michelle, the home-to-school tutor, reminds parents to keep working with their students during Christmas break. Reading books and playing games will keep their brains stimulated.

The families and teachers recently completed the "Raising a Thinking Child - I Can Problem Solve" program with instructor Lisa Schmitter. Community partners from the Boys and Girls Club and the Center for Community Mediation and Dialogue and the Kenai Youth Facility also took part.
