VFW art contest winners announced

The winners of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary art contest are Kaitlin Walker of Kenai Central High School, China Wen Chea of Soldotna High School and Karlee Martin of Skyview High School. They placed first, second and third place, respectively, in the overall category.

Individual school winners were: Kaitlin Walker, first place, KCHS; China Wen Chea, first, SoHi; Ole Anderson, second, SoHi; and Eddie French, third;, SoHi; Karlee Martin, first, Skyview; Jessica Smith, second, Skyview; and Ryan Marshall, third, Skyview.

Overall winners received $500 for first place, $300 for second and $150 for third. Individual school winners received $100 for first, $75 for second and $50 for third.

Walker's entry will be submitted to the statewide competition in April. The winner of the statewide competition will become eligible for the $10,000 first place national scholarship jacket, a plaque and airfare plus two nights lodging to attend the Ladies Auxiliary National Convention in Salt Lake City in August.

The winning entries will be on display at the Kenai Visitors and Convention Center through January.
