The reason for Christmas

Letter to the Editor

Posted: Friday, December 15, 2006

Christmas is certainly a season of peace, love and joy. They are part of the Godly attitudes that characterize the lives of the reborn believers who possess the spirit and are connected to God’s gracious gift of sending his son to be born, live and die for our redemption. The purpose of Christmas is to give praise and honor at the celebration of his birth.

Reborn believers indwelled by the Holy Spirit are saved by God’s grace through faith, by having a true and personal relationship with Jesus Christ, by accepting him as their Lord and Savior and by confessing and repenting their sins. Believers are those who surrender to Jesus Christ their life with all their heart, mind and soul. In the Gospel of John the Lord says unless you are born again you will not go to heaven.

God truly does bring peace into the hearts of every person who comes to him in a personal way. The Apostle John says the blessed assurance of salvation and resulting peace comes from blending faith, which is believing in the word of God and acting upon it with sacrificial love in action and obedience to God’s commandments. Peace overflows our hearts when we realize that we are his chosen and are on our way to eventfully walk in the garden with him in heaven. Then we will find true and complete peace, love and joy with the Prince of Peace.

He is the creator. He died as a lamb. He will return as King of kings and Lord of lords.

Merry Christmas and peace to all. Silent night, holy night.
