Conference comes together with lots of peninsula help

Letter to the Editor

The Soldotna Elks hosted the Alaska Mid-Winter Conference for the state of Alaska. The conferees attended training classes and workshops on the operation of nonprofit organizations. Each lodge in the state sent delegates. Additionally, we had visiting Elks from Washington and Oregon.

The Elks Mid-Winter Conference is over, and all the supplies and equipment have been returned to where they belong.

Before getting back to the normal swing of things onto our next project, I want to take a moment to brag. We started this venture in March and dawdled our way along for a while before going all out in mid-November. We had 113 attendees and guests and an extremely successful state conference.

My hearty thanks for a job well done to the following people and businesses: Jim Bennett, Nancy Burton, Dave and Barbara Caswell, John Christensen, Norm and Gail Erickson, Ken and Jan Halverson, Bonnie Hawkins, Rich Hatt, Dave Hutchings and Hutchings Chevrolet, Kelly Katzenberger, Norma Knox, Larry Larson, Dave and Betty Lowery, Laidlaw Education Services, Barbara and Roy Mullin and Roy Mullin’s Photography, Norm Mortenson, Helen Olson, Dennis Smith and Paul and Jeannie Whitney. You all did the impossible with a smile.

Additionally, I want to thank our Registration Bag sponsors: Arby’s, Central Peninsula General Hospital, Etc. by Sue, First National Bank of Alaska, Fred Meyer, Kenai River Sports Association, Partyin’ Place, Spenard Builders Supply, Trustworthy Hardware, city of Soldotna, Soldotna Chamber of Commerce, Wells Fargo Bank, “Y” Chevron and the VFW.

I am so grateful for all the support our community provides when asked for help.

Kenneth Morrison

Exultant Ruler
