Seward boys, girls split

The Seward and Nikiski basketball teams split a pair of Southcentral Conference games Thursday in Seward.

The Bulldogs won the girls game 51-21, with Sasha Auldridge scoring 20 points and Hannah Thompson adding 14.

The Seahawks won the boys game 65-51. Coty Beck had 16 points to lead the Seahawks, while Corey Hetrick added 15 and Caleb Adelmann added 10. For Nikiski, Caleb Thurman had 13 points, Seven Taylor had 12 points and Rick Miller had 10 points.

Soldotna hoops sweeps Seward

The Soldotna High School basketball teams swept Seward in nonconference play Tuesday at Soldotna.

Led by Kory Wilbanks’ 14 points, the Soldotna boys edged Seward 45-42. The game was tied at 25 at the half, with the Stars taking a 32-31 lead to start the fourth quarter. Brian Blossom and Brooke Carver each scored nine for the Stars.

Caleb Adelmann netted 17 to lead the Seahawks while Isaac Elhard scored 10.

The Soldotna girls ran away from Seward to win 51-18. Paige Blackburn scored 13 to lead the Stars and Liz Denna netted 10. Christa Kennedy had nine points for Soldotna.
