Juneau teen robbed of his socks at gunpoint

JUNEAU (AP) -- An armed assailant robbed a 16-year-old man of his cell phone, checkbook and socks outside a supermarket this weekend, Juneau Police said Monday.

The victim, who was not identified, told police he was confronted by a man wielding a handgun as he exited his vehicle outside the Fred Meyer shopping center.

The man demanded the victim empty his pockets and then ordered the victim to remove his socks, police said. The robbery happened at about 9:15 p.m. Saturday, police said.

The assailant is described as a white man between the ages of 30 and 40, wearing a denim jacket and denim pants, white shirt and white shoes and has facial hair and mid-length brown hair. He was last seen running across Glacier Highway, police said.

The victim was not injured in the robbery, police said.
