ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The body of a Soldotna man was found early Thursday after an avalanche in Cordova.

Alaska State Trooper spokesperson Tim DeSpain said troopers were notified at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday that five snowmachines were caught in an avalanche and Donovan J. Lee, 37, was missing.

Sixty people probed the avalanche debris before Lee's body was found at 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

The searchers included state Fish and Wildlife Protection Troopers, the Cordova Ski Club, Cordova Police Department and U.S. Forest Service workers.

Lee's death is the second avalanche death in the state so far this winter. Rebecca Patton of Anchorage died in early November after she got caught in an avalanche at Hatcher Pass.
