During their October on-air membership drive, Pickle Hill Public Radio station KDLL teamed up with Safeway Foods of Soldotna to encourage members to make an additional donation to the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank.
Whenever a public radio member charged their contribution to a credit card, Safeway added a can of food for the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. According to Allen Auxier, KDLL station manager, over the weeklong drive many took advantage of the offer, which resulted in over 10 cases of food being loaded up last week for delivery to the Food Bank in time for the holidays. "We are proud that our members care about the community and are eager to help out whenever the chance arises. We plan to continue offering this same type of double duty donation whenever possible," said Auxier.
Commenting on the partnership, Peggy Moore, executive director of the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank said, "It takes a whole community working together to ensure that all its residents have the basic necessities we often take for granted. We are especially grateful for KDLL's efforts to collect food for the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank to distribute to the needy in our community."
