On Nov. 21, Mr. Severson's class held a medieval festival. The class thanks the parents and students who helped transform the classroom into the royal court of a castle. Each student dressed in a medieval costume, with knights, serfs, nuns, monks, lords, ladies and minstrels all represented. The class selected Colton Anderson as king and Haley Coffman as queen. Rob Johnson was chosen as prince, and Elizabeth McDermid was princess. The festival included a feast of Yorkshire pudding, bangors, wassail, roasted turkey, beef stew and apple pie. Guest minstrel Stephen Severson and several students recited ballads, participants learned how to play chess, which was invented in the Middle Ages, and students presented a short play, "St. George and the Dragon." Monk Moore (Latin teacher Mr. Moore) also presented magic tricks, and the day ended with a rousing game of Bocci.
