Connections is selling McDonald's buy one-get one free gift certificates to raise money for its Math Counts and Battle of the Books programs. The items are available for $10 in the Connections office, which is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Safe Sitter classes will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Central Peninsula General Hospital. The class is open to students ages 11 to 13 and costs $50. To preregister, call Michelle McKay at (907) 714-4775 or e-mail her at

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game Division of Sport Fish is accepting student artwork in a competition to design covers for the Bristol Bay, Kodiak and Southcentral Alaska sportfish regulation booklets. There will be a field trip to H2Oasis in Anchorage on Jan. 16. Call the office to sign up.

DIBELS-CMB testing for students in kindergarten through third grade runs Jan. 5 to 16. Call the office to schedule an appointment.
