Senior citizens to host Santa

The Nikiski Senior Citizens Center will host Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus from 4 to 7 p.m. today. Refreshments will be available. Parents can have their child's photo taken with Santa. There also will be door prizes.

Ice show, food drive planned

Soldotna Sports Center will hold a Christmas ice show and canned food drive at 6 p.m. today at the center. The cost is a can of food per person. All donations go to the food bank. Learn to skate students and freestyle skaters will perform.

Boys and Girls Club to host Santa

The Boys and Girls Club will host Santa from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Kenai Merit Inn. Santa will arrive with the Kenai Fire Department and be available to have his picture taken with area children. The cost of pictures is $5 per child and $2 for each additional child in the same setting.

Cookies, gifts and caroling are some of the planned events. Raffle tickets for a giant stocking also will be available for $1 each. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call 283-2682.

Fish and game to meet

The Homer Fish and Game advisory committee will hold its election meeting at 6 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Islands and Oceans Visitors Center. Also on the agenda will be a continued discussion of Board of Fish, Upper Cook Inlet and possible Southcentral Board of Game proposals. For more information, call Marvin Peters at 235-2468.

Community dance planned

The Kenai River Folk Dancers will hold a community contra dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Kalifornsky Beach Elementary School. Beginners are welcome. The easiest dances begin at 7 p.m. Participants are reminded to bring clean, nonmarking shoes. The cost is $5; children under 16 are admitted free with an adult. For more information, call 260-4171.
