Holiday service schedules wanted

Deadline for central peninsula churches wishing to submit listings for holiday and Christmas services is 3 p.m. Dec. 21. Listings can be submitted by fax to 283-3299, e-mailed to or brought by the Clarion office in Kenai.

Christmas concert today

North Kenai Chapel will host a free country Christmas concert featuring Dennis Agajanian at 7 p.m. today at the church at Mile 29 Kenai Spur Highway. Agajanian will share an evening of "down home" Christmas music.

The public is invited to attend and a free will offering will be taken.

Addiction group forming

Reformers Unanimous, a national Christ-centered addiction program, is forming a chapter in Kenai. It will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Fridays at Immanuel Baptist Church. Also being offered is "Kids RU," a children's program that teaches children of Reformers Unanimous participants how to avoid addictions.

Children's musical set

The Mount. Redoubt Baptist Church will present the children's musical "The First Leon" (Leon is Noel spelled backward) at 11 a.m. Sunday at the church at Mile 19.5 Kenai Spur Highway.

Pam Moore will direct. It is open to the public.

Women's prayer group to meet

Nikiski Aglow offers women Christian fellowship, prayer and Bible study every Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to noon at North Star Methodist Church, Mile 25.5 of the Kenai Spur Highway.

Christmas services slated

The following is a list of Christmas services for some central peninsula churches.

St. Francis by the Sea will hold advent lessons and carols with emphasis on the Jesse tree at 10:30 a.m. Sunday; Holy Communion and the nativity in conjunction with the Family Church of God at 7 p.m. and Holy Communion at 11 p.m. Dec. 24; and Christmas lessons and carols at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 26.

Peninsula Christian Center will host its annual Christmas Eve candlelight service at 6 p.m. Dec. 24 at the church behind the Salvation Army store on the Kenai Spur Highway in Soldotna.

A quiet hour of prayer, scripture reading, drama, music, reflection and the traditional Silent Night Guitar Choir are planned.

Also, there will be a gift for each child in attendance. For more information, call 262-7416.

The United Methodist Church of the New Covenant in Kenai will hold its annual candlelight cantata service at 7 p.m. Dec. 24 at the church next to the Boys and Girls Club on the Kenai Spur Highway.

Cherie Curry will conduct the cantata "A Candlelight Christmas." Attendees will be given a candle to light during the singing of "Silent Night" which closes the service. It is open to the public. For more information, call 283-7868.

Peninsula Grace Church's Christmas service will begin at 7 p.m. Dec. 24 at the church. The service will include carols, special music and a visit from Kilroy the Mouse with a special rendition of "The Night Before Christmas."

An offering will be taken for Love INC and the church benevolent fund. It is open to the public.

The Soldotna Bible Chapel will hold its Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. Dec. 24 at the church at 300 West-Marydale.

Gary Lindman will instruct the choir in its presentation of "A Night of Alleluias." It is open to the public.
