Longtime Soldotna resident Harry Nicholas Strauss died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, of natural causes at home. He was 72.
Memorial services will be held in the spring.
Mr. Strauss was born Jan. 21, 1934, in Baltimore, Md. He attended school and received his G.E.D. Mr. Strauss entered into the U.S. Air Force on March 22, 1955, and served 20 years until he retired and was honorably discharged Feb. 28, 1977. He was also in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. Shortly after retiring he moved to Anchorage residing there until moving to Soldotna where he had made his home near Brown’s Lake in the Funny River community.
Mr. Strauss enjoyed metal detecting, fishing, baseball and softball.
Mr. Strauss was preceded in death by his father, Harry N. Strauss, Sr.
He is survived by his former spouse, Violet Strauss of Anchorage; Alaska extended family, Tom and Carol Niedzialek of Kenai, Jackie Lockhart of Kentucky and Paul Eskelen of Kenai.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
