Former Kenai resident Ganelle Swanson died Nov. 24, in Eugene, Ore., of age-related causes. She was 84.
Mrs. Swanson was born Nov. 28, 1925, in Childress, Texas. During World War II she worked as a welder in the shipyards in Seattle where she met and married John R. Swanson.
They lived in Anchorage for five years, then moved to Kenai and operated Peninsula Builders Supply.
After 17 years in Alaska she moved to Oregon and operated Gateway Floral Boutique, in Eugene, for 20 years until her retirement.
Mrs. Swanson was preceded in death by her son, Ron Swanson; grandson, Ricky Swanson; and husbands John R. Swanson and Peter Ruzicka. She married Peter Ruzicka in 1992.
She is survived by two sisters, Lawanna Swan, of Sweet Home, Ore. and Betty Lu Inman, of Bussier City, La.; two brothers, Tillman Davis, of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; and Doyal Davis, of Springfield; Ore.; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
