Santa comes to Cohoe

The 1st annual Santa Comes to Cohoe celebration takes place Monday, Dec. 20, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Tustumena Lodge. Kids of all ages are invited to the Cohoe Merry Christmas Party and: get free photos with Santa (use your own camera or Little Debbie's Photos -- Debbie Brown); hand deliver Christmas letters to Santa (give your letter to one of Santa's helpers -- John McCombs or Jack Brown); enjoy free hot chocolate, candy canes or popcorn, sponsored by the Cohoe-Kasilof Community Council and Tustumena Lodge; hear a special reading of "The Night Before Christmas," read by one of Santa's helpers. Art guild has annual meeting

The Peninsula Art Guild annual board meeting for members, artists and the community will be held Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at the Kenai Fine Art Center, 816 Cook Ave., Old Towne Kenai, from 2 to 4 p.m. The Guild is looking for new board members, new programs and ideas. Ian's Film Forum: "A Christmas Carol" showing

Come enjoy a timeless Christmas film, paired with good conversation and good company. We will be watching the 1951 edition of the holiday classic, "A Christmas Carol," Sunday, Dec 26, at 2 p.m., at Peninsula Grace Youth Center, Mile 19.5 K-Beach Road. Ebenezer Scrooge, played by Alastair Sim, is a selfish man who despises Christmas and all those who enjoy it. On Christmas Eve, he receives one final chance to change his ways and perhaps connect with the true spirit of the season. All are welcome at this holiday event, and there may even be some special treats for the attendees.

Alumni hockey on tap

The 15th annual Kenai Central High School and Soldotna High School Alumni Hockey Game takes place Dec. 23, 7 p.m., at the Soldotna Sports Center. Alumni from Kenai, Soldotna, Skyview and Nikiski should contact Rick Koch at 398-0190 for registration information. Teams are limited to 20 skaters and three goalies. Santa will be there for the kids. Wet and dry sections. Admission, $10 for adults, $5 for children, students and seniors.

MOMS meet

The local chapter of the MOMS Club, an international non-profit support organization for at-home mothers, will hold its December meeting on Monday, Dec. 20, 9:30 a.m. in Soldotna.

Moonlight snowshoe walk

Join solstice celebrators in a Moonlight Snowshoe Walk, Monday Dec. 20, 6 -- 7:30 p.m., at the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. This is a new family event to celebrate the Winter Solstice!
