Funding needed for new shelter
The SPCA of the Kenai Peninsula Inc. is receiving requests for more animals than it can handle. The group would like to start building its shelter immediately, but is in need of additional funding. Anyone interested in assisting with in-kind or financial donations is asked to contact the group at 262-8800. Tax-deductible contributions can be mailed to P.O. Box 4243, Soldotna, AK 99669-4243. The SPCA of the Kenai Peninsula reminds residents to spay or neuter their pets, as it helps to keep them safe and helps prevent unwanted litters.
Fox 4 KTBY in search of kid heroes
In an effort to celebrate what kids are doing right, Fox 4 KTBY has joined forces with Anchorage businesses to focus on kids in the community that have acted heroically -- from saving a kitten to feeding the homeless Each month, beginning in January, FOX 4 KTBY will select and announce one local winner who will receive a medallion and a certificate of appreciation, and become eligible for national recognition as a FOX kids hero. The winning child also will be featured in promotional ads highlighting his or her heroism.
To enter, the child must be 18 years old or under at the time of nomination and reside in Anchorage, the Matanuska Valley or the Kenai Peninsula. Nomination forms are available at all Kentucky Fried Chicken Anchorage locations, Allen & Petersen in Wasilla and Anchorage or FOX 4 KTBY at 440 E. Benson Blvd. Suite 1, Anchorage.
