Storytellers to entertain

Kenai Community Library and the Kenai Performers will present holiday stories from around the world at 1 p.m. today at the library. There is no cost.

Christmas play staged

The Ninilchik community Christmas play, “Cricket County Christmas,” will be held at the Ninilchik Fairgrounds today. A potluck will be held at 5:45 p.m., and the play will follow. It is produced by arrangement with Contemporary Drama Service.

Christmas dinner set

The Sterling Senior Center will host a prime rib Christmas dinner Tuesday at the center with peppermint cheesecake for dessert. Entertainment includes a choir and a hula presentation.

Remembrance

celebration slated

Hospice of the Central Peninsula and National Family Caregivers will host a celebration of life from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 30 at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna, across from Mykel’s. Community members are invited to light a candle in remembrance of those who have died or for those who are taking care of loved ones with a life-threatening disease.

Fellowship, food and live music are some of the planned activities. For more information, call 262-0543.

U.S.O. performance set to entertain

The Kenai Performers will present a New Year’s Eve U.S.O. Variety Show at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 31. A big-band orchestra conducted by Tammy Vollum-Matturro, dancing with All-American Dance ’N’ More and old-time radio spots are some of the planned entertainment.

Ticket prices include a prime rib dinner, midnight dessert buffet and a champagne toast. Tickets may be purchased at River City Books in Soldotna and Charlotte’s Restaurant in Kenai. The cost is $65 per person or $120 a couple.

Fundraiser gala to

get toes tapping

The Soroptimist International of the Kenai Peninsula will host its Soroptimist Gala at 7:30 p.m. Jan 7 at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska.

The evening will include live music, hors d’oeuvres and no-host bar. The dress is semi-formal.

The cost is $65 per person. Proceeds will benefit peninsula women and teen events.
