KCHS hockey memorabilia sought

On Thursday, Kenai Central High School will celebrate 30 years of hockey during the Kenai-Soldotna High School varsity hockey game. Attending alumni will receive free admission, limited edition hat and group photo taken between periods one and two. Alumni also will be honored at a reception prior to the game starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Soldotna Sports Center conference room.

Raffle fundraiser continues

A raffle fundraiser for a laptop computer, 32-inch flat screen TV or digital handycam to benefit Jack and Sharee Martin has begun to help them replace items that were taken while moving to Alaska. Tickets cost $10 each and available from Ron's Rent It Center, Ron's Honda, Country Foods and Sweeney's. The drawing will be held Friday. Race volunteers sought

Caregiver meetings set

The National Caregiver Support Program will hold meetings at the following places:

* Jan. 2 Seward Senior Citizens Center from noon to 1 p.m.;

* Jan. 21 Kenai Senior Citizens Center from 1 to 3 p.m. The topic will be safe transfer, bed rest and wheelchair use. Nancy Farrington with Kayoktuk Care will be the featured speaker; and

* Jan. 29 Soldotna Senior Citizens Center.

Hospice plans celebration

Hospice of the Central Peninsula will host a celebration of life candlelight remembrance from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 4 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna, across from Mykel's Restaurant.

Community members who have had a loss in their lives or are taking care of a loved one with a life threatening disease are invited to attend and light a candle for them. Fellowship, refreshments and live music are planned.

Writers' group seeks entries

The Central Peninsula Writers' Group is seeking submissions for its 11th annual writers presentation in March at Triumvirate theater in Soldotna.

Adult and high school aged writers from the central peninsula are eligible to enter. Entries are due Feb. 15 and must be accompanied by an entry form.
