Santa to visit Nikiski

The Nikiski Senior Center will host Santa at the center from 4 to 6:30 p.m. today. Kids can visit with Santa, have cookies and hot chocolate. Pictures can be taken for $5 or parents can bring their own cameras. The center is located at 50810 Island Lake Road in Nikiski. For more Information, call 776-7654.

Christmas play planned

A community Christmas play "The Gift of a Son" will be held at 5:45 p.m. today in Ninilchik at the Fairgrounds Carol Bock Hall. A potluck dinner also is planned. It is open to the public. Call 567-3424 or 567-3311 for more information.

Hockey alumni game slated

The 14th Annual Kenai Central-Soldotna High Schools Hockey Alumni Game will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Sports Center. A limited number of positions are available. Santa will be in attendance. Admission is $10 for adults and $6 for children, students and seniors. There will be a "wet section" serving beer and wine. Immunization clinic takes a holiday

The Kenai Public Health Center will not hold its regularly scheduled walk-in shot clinic Dec. 24 in Soldotna at the Cottonwood Health Center. The center will be closed Dec. 25 in observance of Christmas. It will reopen Dec. 28 at 8 a.m. For more information, call 335-3400.

Wine tasting fundraiser slated

The Hospice of the Central Peninsula's 14th annual winter wine tasting and auction fundraiser will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center.

Tickets will go on sale Jan. 4 at the Hospice office in Bridges in Soldotna.

The organization is accepting and seeking donations for its planned auction.

Gourmet appetizers and specialty wines will be provided along with a silent auction, live auction, and a variety of instant purchases and raffle chances. For more information, call 262-0453 or e-mail .

Playgroup events set

The Soldotna Community Playground Committee is seeking donations for a silent auction as part of a fundraising event. The proceeds raised will go toward the building of the playground at Soldotna Creek Park.

The group also has available for purchase pickets that can be scribed with names and wooden salmon that can be decorated by families. These items will be placed as part of the playground.
