Noatak man charged with attempted murder in ax attack

KOTZEBUE (AP) -- A man from the Northwest Alaska village of Noatak has been charged with attempted murder.

Robert Penn, 44, was arrested Friday on a charge of first-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault, Alaska State Troopers said Wednesday.

Troopers say Penn attacked Paul Wesley, 43, with an ax. Wesley suffered injuries to his head and face from the attack.
