Pittsburgh stomps Ohio State

PITTSBURGH -- Brandin Knight scored 17 points, had six assists and teamed with teammate Julius Page to shut down Ohio State star Brent Darby as No. 4 Pittsburgh beat the Buckeyes 69-49 Wednesday night.

The Panthers (7-0) limited Darby to 3 points on 1-of-9 shooting. He was averaging 21 points and recently scored 35 against Duke.

No. 16 Mississippi St. 78, Georgia St. 54

JACKSON, Miss. -- Mario Austin had 24 points and 10 rebounds as the Bulldogs won their seventh straight.

Timmy Bowers scored 11 points and Derrick Zimmerman had 10 assists for the Bulldogs (7-1), who held Georgia State scoreless for more than seven minutes in the second half.

Women

No. 1 Duke 106, Florida International 58

DURHAM, N.C. -- Alana Beard and Iciss Tillis each scored 21 points and combined for 10 steals to lead No. 1 Duke to a 106-58 victory over Florida International on Wednesday night.

No. 2 LSU 85, Ohio 57

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Aiysha Smith had 13 of her 15 points in the first half to lead LSU, which was playing its first game in 11 days.

No. 4 Tennessee 71, No. 5 Stanford 56

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Gwen Jackson scored 16 points and Kara Lawson added 12 as the Lady Vols (8-1) beat the Cardinal (5-1) for the sixth consecutive time.

No. 18 South Carolina 70, Louisiana-Lafayette 41

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Jocelyn Penn scored 25 points and South Carolina held Louisiana-Lafayette to two field goals in the opening half.

The Gamecocks (8-0) continued their best start since going 9-0 in 1988-89.

Louisiana-Lafayette (2-5) was 2-of-22 from the field in the first half with both baskets 3-pointers as South Carolina took a 40-11 lead.

Sarah Richey led the Cajuns with 12 points, all in the second half.
