Potluck, sing-along set
A Ninilchik community potluck, with a Christmas sing-along and play, "The Coal Camp Madonna," will be held at 5:45 p.m. today at Carol Bock Hall at Ninilchik Fairgrounds. It is open to the public. Participants are reminded to bring a dish to share.
Safe Sitter classes offered
Central Peninsula General Hospital will hold Safe Sitter classes from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the hospital. Children must be 11 years old at the time of class and be preregistered. Boys and Girls Club to host Santa
The Boys and Girls Club will host Santa from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Kenai Merit Inn. Santa will arrive with the Kenai Fire Department and be available to have his picture taken with area children. The cost of pictures is $5 per child and $2 for each additional child in the same setting.
Cookies, gifts and caroling are some of the planned events. Raffle tickets for a giant stocking also will be available for $1 each. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call 283-2682.
Longest Night Service planned
The fourth annual Longest Night Service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Soldotna United Methodist Church, 158 S. Binkley St. The service is a time of remembrance and renewing hope for all who are experiencing grief or loss at any level. The service will include Scripture readings, special music and candle lighting.

Family New Year's Eve party set
Area churches will host a family New Year's Eve party from 7 p.m. Dec. 31 to 12:30 a.m. Jan. 1 at Skyview High School. A variety of family, sports, games, crafts and refreshments are planned. There is no fee.
