Tammy Davis was born and raised in the local area and after living in Europe for three and a half years returned home to realize a life long dream of opening her own boutique, “Having grown up here I truly understand the clothing preferences of the community, we love to wear our jeans and sweats and things that are comfortable and my goal is to bring comfort with an element of style. After living in Europe I feel the infusion and change of style helps to make our everyday wear more interesting and a lot more fun,” Davis told the Dispatch. Chez Moi is French for “My Place,” or as Sir Lancelot portrayed in the song from Camelot it’s all about the pride of “being me.”
Chez Moi has been open at the “Y” in Soldotna since August and is already a popular destination for shoppers wishing to escape the box store crowds and indulge in a little customer pampering, “We’ve worked to create a comfortable welcoming atmosphere with a touch of elegance but not intimidating, a place where you’ll relax and talk with us about fashion or whatever you may be looking for. We want your experience here to be fun and whimsical and not just rush through the store but talk with us and have a good time whether you’re looking for shoes or jewelry we want to help you find something that’ll make you feel beautiful. I do a lot of research and the clothing I buy is merchandise that I love because I’m not going to sell anything that I wouldn’t love to have in my personal closet,” explained Tammy.
Chez Moi also specializes in the perfect fit and is pleased to have the on site services of alterationist Angie Joy, “It is invaluable having her here because every woman's body is different and those little alterations make a big difference in how the clothing will fit and the overall comfort and effect. Chez Moi has everything you need to make you feel special and beautiful from your feet to your ears! (Shoes, jeans, tops, gowns, undergarments, and jewelry)” added Davis. Tammy says she loves to do personal shopping for people, “You give me a little time and I know I can find something that’ll wow your socks off, from a Channel gown to a pair of fashion label jeans. Ordering in the fashion lines I carry can be difficult, but I take the customer’s wants and needs into consideration for example for that special event,” said Davis.
When it comes to the “Bling” or custom accessories Chez Moi has a wide variety elegantly displayed to choose from, “We have a very eclectic mix, I love costume jewelry and have brought in a selection that is unique to see in a clothing store, we have some things you would only expect to find at a high end boutique but carry a wide range in our case here of items that average from $20 dollars to $3,000.” Chez Moi is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00am 6:00pm and Saturday 10:00am 5:00pm. Chez Moi will be open Christmas Eve for your last minute shopping needs or gift certificates from 10:00am 3:00pm.
