CIA girls, Bethel boys win CIA Classic

The Cook Inlet Academy girls and Bethel boys won Cook Inlet Classic titles on Saturday at Cook Inlet Academy.

The Eagles girls wrapped up the girls title with a 39-30 victory over the Soldotna junior varsity.

The Stars trailed 17-13 at the half. CIA put the game away by outscoring Soldotna 14-11 in the final quarter.

Kelsie Leaf had 18 points for the Eagles, while Tiffany Smith had 11 points. For Soldotna, Makayla Wong had 10 points.

Bethel wrapped up the boys title by defeating Ninilchik 76-44 on Saturday. Brodie Smith had 17 points for the Warriors, while Joey Glasheen had 16 points, Theodre Naneng had 14 and Charlie Romer had 13.

For Ninilchik, Sam Bennett poured in 21 points while Billy Riley had 10.

Also in Saturday boys action, CIA defeated the Soldotna JV 48-46. Matthew Moffis had 23 points for the Eagles, while David Reischach and Tyler Solie had 11 points apiece. Mitchell Dougherty had 22 points to lead the Soldotna junior varsity.

Also in Saturday girls action, Skyview defeated Ninilchik 45-25. Jaxon Hill had 16 points to pace the Panthers, while Mary Hauptman had 12 points. For the Wolverines, Esther Ehlers had 13 points.

In Friday girls action, the Cook Inlet girls defeated Skyview 49-15. Keely Powers had nine points to lead a balanced Eagles attack, while Hauptman had eight points for the Panthers.

Also on Friday in girls action, the Soldotna JV defeated Ninilchik 44-24. Esther Ehlers had 15 points for the Wolverines, while Wong paced the Stars with 13 points.

In Friday boys action, Bethel defeated Cook Inlet 59-47. Smith paced the Warriors with 17 points, while Miller had 12 points and Naneng and Glasheen had 10 apiece. CIA got 26 from Moffis and 15 from Reischach.

Also on Friday in boys action, the Soldotna JV topped Ninilchik 33-32. Bennett had 15 points to lead the Wolverines, while Dougherty had 17 points for the Stars.
