Kenai resident Jose G. Bravo, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at mile 34.5 of the Seward Highway in an automobile accident. He was 76.
Services will be held Friday at Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai. Pastor Hugo Lozano will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be George, Jesus and Noe Bravo, Benjamin Moe, and Mateo, Alex, Cesar, and Jehu Mariscal.
Mr. Bravo was born Sept. 21, 1924, in Durango, Durango state, Mexico, and moved to Alaska in 1964. He was a shipwright carpenter in Kodiak where he and his brother Tony Bravo began a business in 1968. Mr. Bravo was a member of La Luz del Mundo Church in Anchorage.
"He was committed to his family and dedicated to his Lord. He lived his life with dignity and respect. His examples of being giving, caring and loving will forever stay with us. He was our hero. That was our father," his family said. "Stranger or friend, if you needed help he offered all he had. He was the strongest man that we knew. He was our father, brother, grandfather and a true friend. We love you. You will be missed dearly. Con amor, adios."
Mr. Bravo is survived by his wife of 29 years, Maria F. Bravo; sisters Juanita, Bertha, Ali and Domi; brother, Tony; daughters Isabel, Rosa, Olivia, Guadalupe, Ester, Noemi, Patricia, Elizabeth and Monica; and sons Marcelino, Daniel, Jorge, Jesus and Noe.
