Homer resident Benny Brooke Kerns died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, in Homer. He was 60.
At the family's request, no services are planned.
Mr. Kerns was born Oct. 1, 1940, in Fall River Mills, Calif. He was educated through high school. He also served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Kerns moved to Alaska in 1987, residing in Homer. He was the owner of the Bark Village in Hat Creek, Calif. He also worked for the U.S. Forest Service and at a fish cannery in Homer. He also was a hunting guide in Alaska.
Mr. Kerns was an outdoorsman, jewelry maker, rock collector and carver.
The family wrote, "Benny was special to each one of us in so many ways. So many memories and great qualities. He loved with all his heart, and knowing Benny he would thank you for being a friend. He loved people and loved life. Now we have to say good-bye but know he is with our Lord. Thank you Lord, for giving us a great dad and brother."
Mr. Kerns is survived by a son, Shawn Kerns; daughter, Shannon Kerns; sisters, Cheryl Landers, Caryllynn Westwind, Sondie Sweig; and two grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by the Homer Funeral Home.
