FAIRBANKS (AP) -- A Fairbanks man was convicted Wednesday of robbing a bank of about $7,000 in March.

Lee A. Brown, 40, was convicted of robbery, theft and driving while intoxicated.

An Alaska State Trooper stopped Brown early March 28 for an equipment violation, two days after a First National Bank branch at Eighth Avenue and Noble Street was robbed.

Brown failed sobriety tests and a portable breath test.

During a search, the trooper found about $5,000 in Brown's pockets. Brown told the trooper he had won the money playing pool.

At the trial, a bank clerk identified Brown as the robber.

A hearing to set a sentencing date was scheduled for next month.
