Christmas greetings from Kasilof.
Good winter solstice to you. Only three more days until Christmas, I've been dreaming of a white and fluffy one.
Kasilof resident Ethel Riley is soaking up rays and enjoying the solstice while visiting her daughter, Caitlin.
Caitlin is down south attending the Arizona School of Massage in Tempe. Even though she is out of town, Ethel would like to wish her husband, Jim, son, Cody, and her dearest friend, Diane, plus all her friends and neighbors "a happy winter solstice, happy holidays and I love you." Thanks to Ethel for the thoughtful message.
The Kasilof junior Girl Scouts Troop No. 668 traveled to Kat's Elder Care on North Cohoe last week to sing carols for the residents. In all, 12 girl were carolers Logi Wong, Breanna Penning, Catherine Wolk, Cheyenne Maal, Jade Larsen, Makinna Halverson, Holly Ramsell, Taylor Wright, Kailey Schrader, Ginger Johnson, Ashley Schrader and Lily Luke. From snappy tunes like "Jingle Bell Rock" to the calmer strains of "Silent Night," the girls covered several songs and shared Christmas cards, too.
Thanks to Kathy Newton, Carla Hudson, Theresa Harris and staff for the opportunity to visit and the candies, too. Thanks also to the event parent driver and helpers.
Congratulations to Alaska Public radio Network songwriter contest winners Kasilof residents Kelsey Shields and Shannon Darling.
The Kasilof Public Library will be closed until Jan. 3.
Kasilof residents celebrating a birthday this week are Jeff Tubbs, Jessica Hatten, Jeremy Wagner, Samantha Nushart, Betsy Hester, Madalyn McCurdy and Cindy Upton Colton.
Celebrating his birthday this week is the son of God, Jesus Christ. Let's not forget the reason for the season and glorify the Lord on the anniversary of his birth.
Happy anniversary to Cohoe residents Russell and Laura Kingsley; they wed two years ago today.
Until next week, have a warm and wonderful holiday.
