Tesoro gets gold star for Green Star efforts

Posted: Wednesday, December 21, 2005

The Peninsula Clarion editorial (Dec. 2) about Tesoro’s proposal to produce low sulfur diesel pointed out that industry can be good for environmental protection. Excellent point. I’d also like to point out the flip side — environmental protection can be good for business.

Green Star is a local nonprofit organization that helps businesses identify ways to reduce waste, prevent pollution and be energy efficient. In 1996, Tesoro was one of the first peninsula businesses to earn a Green Star award, certifying their efforts to minimize waste. Green Star is encouraged to see the company continue to evaluate and implement operational methods that are a benefit to business and still protective of the environment.

If your business is interested in learning how you can improve your bottom line through decreased energy and waste handling costs, and receive public recognition for doing so, give us a call at 262-4849.
